Some of these rules have changed for the 2008 Season updates will be posted, once the Shoreline board has finalized them.
East Haven Youth Football is one of thirteen leagues that make up the Shoreline Youth Football Conference. The goal of the SYFC is to provide the largest number of pre-high school aged youth with a positive experience in the game of football. Its objectives are that the participants must have fun, should learn the values of team sports and discipline, and should learn the fundamentals of the game of football.
SYFC member towns: Amity (Woodbridge/Bethany/Orange), Branford, Cheshire, Clinton, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, Milford, North Branford (N. Bfd., Middlefield, Durham) North Haven, Old Saybrook (O.S., Westbrook, Lyme, Old Lyme), Tritown (Deep River, Essex, Chester, Haddam, Killingworth ).
The SYFC is broken into three divisions based upon the age of the participant as of December 31, 2008:
Age of 12/31/2008 11, 12 = Junior Division 9, 10 = Youth Division
The minimum weight to play is 65 pounds. The maximum weight for the Youth is 170, the Junior Division is 180 pounds. The max for Seniors is 200 lbs.
Every participant must
attend one of the three weigh ins scheduled in August. Every participant must be officially weighed in and fit within the
parameters of one of the divisions, or lose their eligibility to play in the SYFL. Weigh in dates, times, and place will be
announced as soon as available. Players will need to show a birth certificate at the time of the weigh-in. Equipment: Each player will receive every necessary piece of equipment except for cleats and a protective cup. Each season all of EHYF equipment is sanitized, inspected, and reconditioned to meet all standards of safety. Player must be present when picking up equipment. During the season a conflict such as a vacation, church activity, schoolwork, or health concern may arise that forces a player to miss a practice. If there is going to be a conflict please notify a coach as soon as possible.
Games are played every Sunday beginning the last Sunday of August. Each team will play 8 regular season games with the possibility of 4 additional playoff games. Home Games are played at the Old High School Field. Away games are usually at the high school of the home team. Take note check with the coach or your schedule
Playing
time: The SYFC has a rule that requires every participant to play a minimum number of
plays in a game. This minimum is based upon the number of eligible players on the day of a game.
