Game Re-Cap
The Yellowjackets traveled to see the Mighty Spartans of Amity. The Mighty
Spartans have been slaying there opponents with ease. It was more of a case of David vs Goliath. Well on this
day David started the fight by taking right to the Giant. The open kickoff saw the Giant stumble at the goal line an
fumble the ball. With the Easties backed up at there own 5 yard line Ryan Spano took out his sling shot and shot one
over Goliath's head for what was almost a 95 five yard catch an run to Gabe Longley, but Gabe was caught at the one by the
Giant. With the Luzzi cousins leading the way Jay Donaldson walked into the end-zone for an easy TD. Extra point featured
Ryan throwing an out pass to Mathew Biel for the extra point. The giant was awake now, and started to show some signs
of there potent offense as they drove down the field for there first score, but the giant did not get down the field easy.
This eastie team show the giant they are here for the long haul. (For a bunch of 4th graders there was some serious
hitting going on). David was not ready to bow to the Giant and decided to run around the Giant for another TD with Jay
Donaldson. Extra point failed. 13-6. The giant was taking these blows in stride. The giant took one long
stride and was in the end-zone just like that the giant was ahead by a foot 14-13. On the next eastie drive which looked
like David was going to take out the knee from the Giant, but the big Giant caused a fumble with a 1 minute or so left in
the half. The Giant with little time left in the half struck again and the half-time score was 20-13. That drive
seemed to take some the steam out from David.
The second half began with the easties fumbling the ball away, which seemed
to be the down fall for David. The Giant was awake now and began to assert its power. The only score in the third
Quarter was by the Giant. The fourth quarter started with the might Giant scoring again and seemed to put David away
for good. The easties did not help there cause in the second half with sloppy tackling. With time running out
Amity scored one last garbage TD. The might easties would not go down after that TD which really stung. They decided
to mount one last drive. Jay Donaldson ran a sweep with Andrew and Anthony clearing a path for the speedster he burst-ed
out to the 50 yard line. The easties tried the same thing to the right side with Andrew Luzzi, but he got hit in the
backfield and did all he could just to hold on to the ball. Then Ryan Spano with the entire eastie team a little mad
at the giant to out there sling shot a shot one out to Jay Donaldson in the slot and with Gabe Longley with a key block, Jay
did what his does best, which was sprint to the end zone to close out the scoring for the day.

Game 3 Re-Cap
AH at last a home game for
the young fourth graders. Not only did these young men have to learn how to play tackle football, figure out how to
put all this equipment on, they also opened up their first two games on the road. They hosted the Tri-Town Warriors,
the only good thing that happened to the Warriors is that they won the coin toss. This Eastie team was mad after they
had lost their first two games by a combined 7 points. They were not going to let this happen again. They started
out with another long run for a TD by Jay Donaldson for a touchdown to start the scoring. The offensive line of East
Haven had a great day allowing the Easties to build a 20-0 half-time lead. This line consists of and starts with the
anchor Seth Proto, he is guarded by his two guards Zachary Anstasio, Joe Pappacoda, next two the guards are the
tackles Christian Cunningham. Ours ends did a great job sealing the deal on the outside those guys our Devin Perkins,
Frank Camera, Matt Biehl, and Gabe Longley.
In the second half with the Easties pitching there first shut out of the
season saw this defense having fun, they were making tackles all over the place. Ryan Spano had a interception late
in the third quarter for a TD, but that was called back by a clipping penalty. The Easties kept driving right a the
heart the Warriors defense with dive plays from Ryan Celentano, and Gabe longely. Finally Gabe longely ended the scoring
with a 15 yard run right of the gut and ended the game with that. EH 26 Warriors 0

2 Re-Cap
Game 2 showed a liitle bit of the first game a nail bitter all the way down to the
end again with the North Branford Thunderbirds. This game went back an forth all day with a lot of long runs for TD's.
The Easties open the scoring with a long run by Jay Donaldson. The T-birds answered with a long run of there own.
The Easties showed off a new weapon Ryan Spano's throwing ability. He was hooking up with Jay and Gabe longely all day
as they choose only to single cover them. Jay and Gabe both had long catches that lead to touchdowns for the Easties.
Anthony Luzzi kept the T-Birds honest by pounding away at the middle of the T-Birds defense. I am not sure either team
had a good defense that day as the offense keep scoring at a unbelievable rate. Andrew Luzzi took a hand off from Ryan
Spano up through the tackle end hole for a 42 yard scamper to the endzone. He was helped out on this long run by his
full back, who lead the one. Joe Bohen sealed his tackle and Devin Perkins kicked out the end for a hole that was might
big for Andrew to get through. The T-Birds would get the last long run of the day. This run sealed the victory
with 3:00 minutes left in the game the easties could not mount one last attack and fell to the T-Birds 32-26.
Game 1 Re-Cap
The East Haven Grade 4 Youth
Footbal team open their season against the Cheshire Rams.
This was the debut of the entire 4th grade team and it was
a beauty. East Haven won the coin toss and the battle was on. East Haven's took its first drive deep into Ram
territory but came away empty handed. The Rams took over on downs and drove the ball right at the East Haven defense.
The eastie defense was a little confused and let up an easy touchdown. On the next possession the Easties offense ran
toss sweep to Jay Donaldson, and before the Rams knew what was going on Jay was dancing in the endzone. The ram offense
went on a scoring spree with two touchdowns. There second touchdown was surrendered with 30 seconds left in the half
which left the East Haven offense little time to punch back. On the first play of after the kick the easties offense
ran toss sweep left to Jay again, and with some great blocking from Joe Bohen who had the toughest day on the line, lined
up against Cheshire's best defensive player put another touchdown on the board half-time score was 20-12.
After the
half this East Haven Defense woke up and was led by Andrew and Anthony Luzzi. (As the Cheshire anouncer said the Luzzi Cousin's).
These two were leading and the rest of the East Haven defense followed. The Ram offense was put on ice. Meanwhile
the Eastie offense put up two more scores. There first score was yes again by Jay Donaldson, but he was help on this
play by Andrew Luzzi and Gabe Longley who sealed there end and allowed Jay to run free again. On the extra point try
the R and R connection hooked up for a nice pass into the flat. (Ryan Spano QB - Ryan Celentano Rec.) End of 3rd Quarter.
The
fourth quarter started with the East Haven defense not giving up much and getting the ball back. On this possession
feature Ryan Spano doing an excellent job of faking a dive and keeping the ball around the left end, beating the cornerback
for the go ahead Touchdown. EH 25 - Rams 20. The East Haven special teams came up big and recover and excellent
onside kick called by the Kicker Ryan Spano and the easties unit recovered. On the first possession the East Haven offense
coughed up the ball to give it back to the Rams. The Ram offense was still being put on ice by the Luzzi cousins on
the first two plays each came up big with Andrew sacking the QB for a five yard loss. The next feature Anthony coming
from is LB spot and chasing the RB down for a 3 yard gain. Then it was like a black cat walked by the East Haven defense
and the misfortunes begin. There was defensive penalty costing the defense 5 yards. Giving the Ram offense 4 and
about 6, with not timeouts left with the clock around 2 minutes left in the game. A big stop here would seal the game,
but they gained 7 on there next play. On there first down play they sent two receivers out and sailed a pass over the
head of a defense that played great the entire half for a touchdown. Final score Rams 26 EH 25.
The kids and the
coaches played great, they showed a lot of heart. Tough loss.
